Run for the Hills {Open}

She needed to run. She needed to get away. Anything but stay in the spot she was in. She did what any self-respecting teenager would do. Slipping her dress on her slender figure, she gathered the ends of the fabric and ran. The shoes she wore crunched along the gravel and more than once, she stumbled. Tears sprang to her eyes as the words of her parents bounced around in the small confines of her mind, slowly eating away at her mental stability.

Her hands were covered in grit, which she wiped off on the fabric of her dress. Her knees were bloodied, her palms had miniscule bits of rock embedded in the chocolate-hued flesh, and her dress was torn. All in all, she looked like a mess. Lifting a trembling hand, she wiped the back of her hand against her eyes and sniffled. What was with the breakdown? Had something triggered such an occurrence? She couldn't recall if something had but then again, she wasn't exactly on the list of observational people.

Trying her best to relax, she drew in one breath after another. She was exhausted, she finally admitted to herself. After what had felt like forever and a day, she got just enough energy to walk the last few feet toward a tree and bask beneath its comforting shadow. All in all, her presence messed quite nicely with the surrounding area. According to her parents, she always had a gift of being one with nature. She thought they were full of it, but she never said anything to them about this line of logic. Briefly, her mind wandered toward her twin brother.

He was the one thing she could never keep off of her mind. Each day, she couldn't help but feel as if something was missing. She knew what that something was, but she wouldn't go crawling back to that family. If he felt the same, like she thought he did, he would come and look for her. Maybe he already had, and it was just a matter of finding him. "Oh..Aleck.." She murmured, rubbing her eyes.
